An Appointment With Death\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe have an appointment with death because of sin. We all sin because of the \u003cstrong\u003echoice\u003c\/strong\u003e of one man—\u003cstrong\u003ethe first man, Adam\u003c\/strong\u003e. Adam disobeyed God’s first command and ate of the forbidden fruit. The Bible says, \u003cem\u003e“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eall\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003e men, for that \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eall\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003e have sinned” (Romans 5:12).\u003c\/em\u003e We are all sinners by nature and by choice. Our sin brings both physical and spiritual death (separation from God).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2. An Appointment With God\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe all have an appointment with God after death. When we meet God, He will either judge us as sinners or accept us into heaven as His children. \u003cem\u003e“Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness” (Acts 17:31). “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eHow Can You Be Ready?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGood works will not prepare you for this meeting. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, \u003cem\u003e“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003enot\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003e of yourselves: it is the gift of God: \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eNot of works\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003e, lest any man should boast.”\u003c\/em\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe can only have salvation because of the \u003cstrong\u003echoice\u003c\/strong\u003e of an obedient, sinless man. \u003cem\u003e“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (I Peter 3:18).\u003c\/em\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eThe second man, Jesus Christ\u003c\/strong\u003e, obeyed God’s will and died for the sins of mankind so that fellowship with God might be restored and eternal life made available to all. I Corinthians 15:22 says, \u003cem\u003e“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”\u003c\/em\u003e Christ died for your sin and rose again from the dead so that you can be ready to meet God!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eYou alone can \u003cstrong\u003echoose\u003c\/strong\u003e your future. The only way to prepare to meet God is to obey His command to \u003cstrong\u003erepent\u003c\/strong\u003e (turn from your way and go God’s way) and to \u003cstrong\u003ereceive\u003c\/strong\u003e Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.
